SPDA’s Agro-industrial Development Program launch set

DAVAO CITY (20 October 2021) – There’s no more room to back out from the planned grand launching on November 16, 2021 of SPDA’s Agro-industrial Development Program at the Authority’s proclaimed property at the municipalities of Amai Manabilang and Wao in Lanao del Sur.

During an afternoon briefing with members of the various working committees at the main office in this city, Operations Department Manager Cris B. Dagala disclosed that among the highlights during this event shall be the ground breaking ceremony for the implementation of a mechanized and precision agriculture technology on corn & soya project with private agribusiness partner of the Authority, an American company Asia Pacific Precision Agriculture Group (ASPAC AG) with its local affiliate, Lanao del Sur Corn Development Corporation (LDSCDC).

Earlier, Southern Philippines Development Authority (SPDA) Administrator and Chief Executive Officer Abdulghani ‘Gerry’ Ajul Salapuddin had expressed optimism that this project can be replicated in the other provinces of the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) and Mindanao in general, where there are wide tracts of idle arable lands available.

Salapuddin said when this plan is materialized, this will definitely support the government’s food self-sufficiency program and export the excess agricultural products to earn hard currency or US dollars to strengthen the country’s economy. (Celestino B. Siglos, Ed.D.)
